Meet the Governing Body

Mrs. D. Lee – Chair of Governors

mrs-d-lee

I am a local authority Governor with over 30 years’ experience of working in Local Government finance.  I have been a school Governor for 8 years and was a member of the Governing Body at Greengates before we moved to Yew Tree.  I first became a Governor as I thought that the skills that I’d developed during my working life might be useful in a school environment and I hope that my knowledge and experience help to support the best possible teaching and learning for all our children.

The thing I love best about being a school Governor is getting the chance to talk to the children in school – seeing them in the classroom, listening to them interact with their teachers and other children, or watching them in a school performance, always brings a smile to my face and makes me proud to be part of the Yew Tree School community.

Mr. R. Alcock – Vice Chair of Governors

I have been a Governor at Yew Tree for a number of years, and recently was appointed to Vice Chair of Governors. I work for the Local Authority and my role is Schools Finance Team Leader. The main part of the role is allocating budgets to schools, setting hourly rates we pay for Nursery provision and High Needs Places (DSP). I also work closely with schools that are facing financial difficulty. These skills are used in my role within the Governing Body. I have also been a Governor at other Primary and Secondary schools, which has helped me supporting Yew Tree. I enjoy the challenges of being on the Governors of the school and hope I can ensure that the school can provide excellence for all of its pupils.

Mrs. P. A. Farrell – Co-opted Governor

SEND Lead Governor

Safeguarding/Child Look After Lead Governor

I was invited to join the Governor body as a Co-Opted member in 2015 when the Governing Body was reconstituted. I had been a Community Governor since Yew Tree CP opened in 2011 and before that I was a Governor on Greengates and New Hutte Schools.

I attend most, if not all, of the Governing Body Committee meetings which allow me to have a well-rounded view of the schools progress and challenges. I am particularly interested in inclusion and special educational needs and disabilities. I am the designated governor for special educational needs and disabilities and safeguarding.

I am local to the area and have been involved in voluntary work with a number of charities in the area for over 25 years.

I am dedicated to the progression of the school and all of its pupils regardless of their backgrounds. I aim to challenge the school’s leadership to always strive for improvement and to continually evolve to our children’s needs.

Mrs. B. Oldfield – Co-opted Governor

I have been involved with Education for 34 years as a teacher, Head of English, Assistant Principal, Consultant and Governor. I also trained to be an Additional Inspector for Ofsted. I have  lived and worked in Liverpool and Knowsley for the majority of my career, with side trips to work in Cumbria, Darwen and Moss Side, and thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with students and colleagues.  It has been a privilege to guide students to achieve their goals.

The first experience I had as a governor was Teacher Governor for four years at one of the schools I worked in.  It is a fantastic to be involved with Yew Tree as a Governor ensuring that our pupils receive the best possible holistic education. I first became a Governor for Greengates to help with the transition to the new building and to raise standards.  It is as a result of determination and dedication of the staff and Governors at Yew Tree that the recent Ofsted judgements have both been ‘Good’ and we now strive to ensure the provision for our pupils becomes outstanding in every way.

Ms R O’Regan – Parent Governor

Pupil Premium/Life Chances Lead Governor

I am a Parent Governor and have been a Governor since 2012.  In addition to my work on the main Governing Body, I sit on the Resources and Remuneration Committees.  Outside of my activities at the school, I am the global director of business development and marketing for an international law firm, and sit on their Executive Board.  Prior to working within marketing and business development, I qualified as an auditor and directed a national internal audit and risk team for a firm of chartered accountants.  I have been involved in both a voluntary and professional capacity with a variety of charities and not for profit organisations throughout my career, and have sat on the board of several credit unions throughout the North West.

Cllr G See – Parent Governor

Health and Safety Lead Governor

mr-g-see

I joined the Governing Body in 2013, having been elected as a Parent Governor as two of my children attend Yew Tree Community Primary School. I have lived in Halewood all of my life and I’m proud to represent the area that I grew up in as a local councillor. In this role, I have been given extra responsibilities and currently hold the position of Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services. As a result of this I have a deep understanding of how the school operates and which are the challenges and areas for improvement. Away from Yew Tree I have a busy life, I’m a Centre Development Manager at a local Neighbourhood Centre and outside work I enjoy spending time with my family, politics, and travelling when I find some spare time to do so.
